QotD: What other names did your parents consider for you?
My Mom wanted Kevin. My (Hispanic) Dad wanted Miguel (Michael). So, I am probably the only Miguel Kevin on earth! ^^
My other siblings got "regular" names, like Mark and Richard... It was always fun watching the teacher struggle (in places like Virginia Beach, Virginia) with "Miguel Avila"! I usually answered Here! when they started stuttering something like it. When an A last name, I was usually the first or second person called for roll call. I quickly became just Mike - much to their relief... :)

Esméralda is a fictional character in Victor Hugo's 1831 novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She is a gypsy girl from Andalusia. She constantly attracts men with her seductive dances, and is rarely seen without her clever goat Djali (pronounced Dahl-ya). She is often noted to be around 16 years old.
As a baby, Esméralda was kidnapped, then raised by Gypsies in exchange for the deformed infant Quasimodo, whom they left at the steps of Notre Dame. At the age of sixteen, the beautiful orphan serves as a public dancer, captivating the hearts of many key male characters, including Notre Dame's Archdeacon Claude Frollo.
Danse Mon Esmeralda!
Quand les années auront passé
On retrouvera sous terreNos squelettes enlacés
Pour dire à l'univers
Combien Quasimodo aimait
Esméralda la zingara
Lui qui Dieu avait fait si laid
Pour l'aider à porter sa croix
pour l'aider à porter sa croix
Mangez mon corps, buvez mon sang
Vautours de Montfaucon
Que la mort au-delà du temps
Unisse nos deux noms
Laissez mon âme s'envoler
Loin des misères de la terre
Laisser mon amour se mêler
A la lumière de l'Univers
A la lumière de l'Univers
Danse mon Esméralda
Chante mon Esméralda
Danse encore un peu pour moi
Je te désire à en mourir
Dans mon Esméralda
Chante mon Esméralda
Laisse moi partir avec toi
Mourir pour oit n'est pas mourir
Danse mon Esméralda
Chante mon Esméralda
Viens t'endormir dans mes bras
Je te désire à en mourir
Danse mon Esméralda
Chante mon Esméralda
Au delà de l'au-delà
Mourir pour toi n'est pas mourir
Danse mon Esméralda
Chante mon Esméralda
Laisse-moi partir avec toi
Mourir pour toi n'est pas mourir
I've got an unusual name too. I am talking about my real name not Kleio of course. Sorry I can't disclose it here. Anyhow, all I could say is that my real name is inspired by a Greek goddess name. It's a beautiful name, but... yes, there's the BUT. But, it has caused me countless headaches and irritations with the mispronunciations by many others which also leads to inspired nicknames during my schooldays. Even till now, there are still many who struggled with the actual spelling of my name and not just the pronunciation. I just had to keep on repeating myself. Urgh! how frustrating. Hence, I have learned to just let it be and live with it *roll eyes*. Don't get me wrong though... as I don't hate my name, in fact, I came to love it as it is a very beautiful and graceful name. I guess, I'll just have to be content with a selected handful of people in my life who could call me by this name with the right ring to it.
Esméralda for Peggy is lovely. It's elegant with a nice roll to the tongue with a hint of mysteriousness.

Maria . . .

The most beautiful sound I ever heard:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . .
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word . .
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . .
Maria!
I've just met a girl named Maria,
And suddenly that name
Will never be the same
To me.
Maria!
I've just kissed a girl named Maria,
And suddenly I've found
How wonderful a sound
Can be!
Maria!
Say it loud and there's music playing,
Say it soft and it's almost like praying.
Maria,
I'll never stop saying Maria!
The most beautiful sound I ever heard.
Maria.

Back then I was thinking, why not adopt a name based on Greek mythology for my online profile, since my real name is based on Greek mythology to begin with :D Besides, I think the spelling for Clio is way more interesting, appealing and cooler when it is spelled as K-L-E-I-O. Don't cha think so. I think this name with this particular spelling makes it more memorable and mysterious.
Euterpe (muse of music and lyric poetry) - moi? LOL. You are making me blush again. Yeah, I blush easily... since my skin too fair to hide the rush of blood to my face. It's quite embarrassing at times. Makes it difficult for my to tell a lie too.
P/S: I am already using Firefox 2.0's built in spell checker. It helped me a lot. I can't stop loving Firefox. What an amazing internet browser. Totally love the flexibilities it offers with the wide range of extensions readily available. We are all so spoiled and pampered by this nifty browser. How could we not love it to pieces.
Seriously, I hope that you wear hats and use sun protection with your fair skin. Of course, if your face was all lobster-red from the sun, people wouldn't know when you lie, would they? :)
Firefox2 is so awesome. I have to use IE quite a bit at work, so I know of what I speak. And IE7 is even worse, I hear... I stay away from Microsoft products as much as possible. The new built in spelling checker is a life saver for me, and something that it's hard to imagine MS doing for IE, or at least doing it right like FF has done... Now you know my spelling secret! My vocabulary has always exceeded my spelling ability. ^^ You may notice a difference when I write from work (like now) as I am stuck with FF 1.5, because Scripps has blocked access to the Firefox update site now(!) We are only supposed to use IE... hehe
Yes, you must be the Muse of Music - you've inspired me to find my best things for you... isn't that what a muse does?? :)
